Bret Michaels was released from the hospital on Wednesday, November 14 after undergoing a medical procedure known as lithotripsy. He says: "[It] was painful, but worth it. I'm not 100%, but I will be soon. The staff and doctors were incredible. Your well wishes and prayers helped as kidney stones are one of the most painful things to experience."
Lithotripsy is a procedure that helps to break the process of urolithiasis. Urolithiasis is the process of forming stones in the kidney, bladder, and/or urethra. Kidney stones are a common cause of blood in the urine and pain in the abdomen, flank, or groin. Kidney stones occur in 1 in 20 people at some time in their life.
As a result of his medical condition, Michaels was forced to cancel his November 11 concert at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center in Greeneville, Tennessee.
