Bret Michaels said he was nearly
crushed by a 320 lb. disco ball [on July 21st, 2000] while playing "Every Rose Has It's Thorn" at a show at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre in Tinley Park.
"The fans were screaming for me to come forward, so I took a couple steps forward and the ball came crashing down on stage," Michaels told to Luis Gomez of
ChicagoTribune.com "It literally landed where I was standing. We looked at each other like 'We're still alive, right?' That would have been an instant death."
Michaels, who performed a solo show at Viper Alley in Lincolnshire Friday, said he now uses a much lighter, fake disco ball during concerts.
